Welcome to Sesifikile- A word from the President
Africans, fellow countrymen I greet you and feels good to have the chance to speak to you once again. It’s that time when most political parties are involved in their campaigns because the date has been set by the acting President of the country, Mr. K Monthlante. The final date is the 22 April 2009. We the Sesifikile Youth Structure kindly urge all members of the public especially youth to go and cast their votes. Voting is a right that you get to earn as soon as you turn 18 years of age and again if you have a South African identification book, then you are eligible to vote.
Firstly I must as the President of the Sesifikile Youth Structure must apologize to members of the public for not being able to update and keep you informed about the activities of the S. Y. S. Probably some of you thought that we have gone with the wind, but hey we are still here doing what we do best. If you don’t know what we do best, check this out. Over the months that we have been quiet, we were busy searching and identifying individuals that share the same vision with the S. Y. S, develop youth and community at large. So we manage to get five board members who will steer the S. Y. S to greater heights. The chairperson of the board is Mr. S.
Siebers( Dealer Principal at United Motors, Bethal branch), Mrs. A.
Makhanya( Chief Executive Officer, Bethal Hospital), Mr. M. I. Phungula( Operational Support, Bethal Correctional Services), Mr. J. Zwane( former Principal, Langelihle primary school) and Mr. B. Ngwenya( Eskom employee and very active member of the community). These individuals were identified by a task team that was set to look at this matter of getting very pro-active members of the community including business people who share the same vision, develop the youth. Having acquired their services they were given a periods of two years to propel the S. Y. S to greater heights. We again started our own newsletter that gets published monthly.
The aim of this newsletter is to reach out to all members of the community and again it includes all topics discussed on that particular month. This is to reach out to all members of the community; the newsletter was well received by members of the community. After the launch of the newsletter we again got a donation worth R 98000-00 rands of study material from the Van Schaik bookshop. All this study material for grade 10-12 were distributed to all community libraries and to the four major high schools of Bethal.
Without a full time sponsor to cater for all our projects for the year, I must say all went well learner’s awards were bigger and better as compared to last year 2007. Community builders awards 2008 were well attended especially by all recipients (Ms. B. Khoza, Mrs. Khoza, both from the Thandanani group), Sister Maurah, Mr. Gert Sibande (family attended), Mr.
Joseph Nthlane (family attended) and Ms. Nokuthula Simelane (family attended). All this heroes and heroines did their part on the democracy that we have in this country, we salute them and hold their names high.
What better way to end the year than to invite all the grannies of Bethal to a party. We decided to honor them on the 06 December 2008. They had a huge feast, a bull was slaughtered for them, and this was to thank them for raising us and loving us unconditionally. This is the first time that a youth structure at Bethal ever did this to honor their senior citizens.
This will be done yearly and now on will also include our disabled community members.
It would not be right if I were not to mention companies and individuals who have made the Sesifikile Youth Structure the much known youth structure. Without them it would have been difficult to achieve most of our planned activities. United Motors, Harambee, Zondo Transport, Mthi Engineering and those that I didn’t mention, we thank you. Hope you enjoy our refreshed websites and we hope to hear from you, your inputs means a lot to us.
